Das Technische Museum – welches Sonntags übrigens erst um 11:00 Uhr öffnet ;-) – wurde 1924 gegründet, mit über 50000 Exponaten auf mehr als 10000 m² Ausstellungsfläche ist es das größte Technologie-Museum Schwedens. Es entstand nach dem Vorbild des „Deutschen Museums“.
Die Ausstellung, die einen großen Teil der schwedischen Technologie – und Industriegeschichte wiederspiegelt, wird jährlich von ca. 170000 Besuchern besichtigt.
Neben den ständigen Exponaten sind auch zeitlich befristete Ausstellungen zu besonderen Themengebieten zu sehen (z.B. Roboter).
Zu den Exponaten zählen unter anderem mehrere historische Modelle der bekannten schwedischen Autohersteller, eine Werkstatt aus den Zeiten der „Industriellen Revolution“, ein Rundgang durch die Telekommunikationsgeschichte, sowie ein nachgebildeter Bergwerksstollen.
Besonderer Beliebtheit erfreuten sich allerdings verschiedene „Experimente zum anfassen“ (Zahnräder, Sprechrohre....) auch wenn das Alter der Zielgruppe wohl teilweise von unseren „Wissenschaftlern“ überschritten wurde.
Technical Museum
The Technical Museum was found in 1924 with more than 50000 objects spread over an area of about 10,000m². It is the biggest technical museum in the whole of Sweden and during it's foundation it was inspired by the "Deutsches Museum", which is the biggest (technical) museum in Germany. The "Deutsches Museum" can be found in Munich, which is the capital of Bavaria.
The exposition is visited by about 1,700,00 visitory annually and displays quite a part of the Swedish technology.
The museum although presents temporary limited expositions of special themes (i.e. robots).
The more important areas are the following. A hall with historical models of the famous Swedish car manufacturers. A workshop from the time of the industrial revolution and a level with lots of old (mobile-)phones, which represent the developement of the telecommunication. Last but not least is a mine, which is partly like a haunted house without the special effects.
The most fun we had with these little experiment i.e. a mirror, which makes you fat or very thin.
